The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recently announced a significant change in airport procedures across the country. As part of this update, general and gate checks for passengers have been terminated, aiming to streamline the airport experience and minimize waiting times.
This move, however, does not compromise the FIA’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking. Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has initiated the installation of “e-gates” at major airports like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. These e-gates function similarly to those in developed nations, offering swift immigration processes.
Passengers will benefit from this technological upgrade as they can conveniently obtain their boarding cards by scanning their passport and ticket at the e-gate, eliminating the need to wait in queues. Notably, the e-gates utilize data from the biometric chip embedded in passports for enhanced security and efficiency.
