By Karisma Kapoor and Mohnish Bahl Revisit Iconic Song on Indian Idol 15
Bollywood stars Karisma Kapoor and Mohnish Bahl recently appeared on Indian Idol 15 alongside filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya to celebrate the legacy of Rajshri films. The trio shared fond memories of shooting the iconic song “Mhare Hiwda Mein Nache Mor” from the beloved film Hum Saath Saath Hain.
A Challenging Shoot in Rajasthan’s Scorching Heat
While reminiscing, Karisma Kapoor revealed the hardships faced during the filming of the song. Shot in the intense Rajasthan heat, the actors had to perform on a moving elephant for hours. Karisma recalled, “It may look grand and effortless on screen, but the reality was far from it. We spent 2–3 hours on an elephant that wouldn’t stop moving, all while dealing with the blazing sun.”
Director Sooraj Barjatya added humor to the tale by recalling how the team faced a water shortage while stuck atop the elephant. He quipped, “Elephants don’t squat on command, so once we were up there, getting down wasn’t easy. At one point, I thought I might faint, but Karisma and Tabu kept the show going.”
Mohnish Bahl’s Role and Tabu’s Dance Takeover
Barjatya also highlighted a behind-the-scenes moment involving Mohnish Bahl. Due to his character’s limitations, he couldn’t participate fully in the choreography. The director said, “The choreography was designed for all three couples, but Mohnish’s character required one hand down. So, Tabu stepped in and took over the dance, while Karisma brought her signature grace to the performance.”
Rajshri Films’ Enduring Legacy
The episode celebrated the timeless charm of Rajshri films, with contestants performing memorable tracks that evoked nostalgia. Barjatya praised the performance, saying it did justice to the grandeur and emotions of the original.
