Hurricane Beryl Updates: From Landfall to Current Impact

Hurricane Beryl Hits Texas Hurricane Beryl made landfall early Monday on the Matagorda Peninsula, southwest of Houston, as a Category 1 storm with winds up to 80 mph.

Downgraded to Tropical Storm By mid-morning, Beryl was downgraded to a tropical storm by the National Hurricane Center. It continues to move inland over eastern Texas.

Impact and Forecast Expected to bring heavy rain, damaging winds, and storm surge, Beryl has already caused major power outages affecting over 2 million in the Houston area.

Path of Destruction Originating as a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean, Beryl has caused fatalities and extensive damage before weakening over Mexico and entering Texas.
