Counterfeit Pilot Apprehended at Lahore Airport

Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel apprehended an individual posing as a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilot at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday.

According to an ASF spokesperson, the individual, identified as Ahmed, attempted to access the international departure lounge using a fake PIA pilot identification card.

Ahmed was subsequently handed over to Airport Police for further legal proceedings. Authorities have initiated a case against him, and an investigation is underway.

It is worth noting that in July 2020, following the pilots’ license scandal, the European Aviation Agency imposed a ban on all Pakistani airlines. Pakistani officials anticipate the ban being lifted in the near future after recent discussions.

According to the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the airline plans to resume its operations in Europe with two weekly flights to Paris in June and July. “All our pre-operation formalities are complete, we just await final clearance, and as soon as we get it, we will start,” he stated.
